In this guide
Alhambra tickets sell out weeks ahead in spring, summer and on long weekends. This guide explains which ticket to choose, where to buy it without paying extra and which rules to know before you arrive, using information from the official sales site of the Alhambra and Generalife Trust (checked in October 2026).
Where to buy: only from the official site
Official sales are at tickets.alhambra-patronato.es. Many sites with similar names resell the same ticket at a higher price or bundle it into guided tours. If a website is neither the Trust nor an authorised operator, be careful.
The monument’s ticket offices also sell tickets, but only for the same day and up to two hours before the Nasrid Palaces slot, subject to availability. In high season they are often sold out.
According to the Trust, you can buy up to 60 tickets per booking and tickets are non-refundable, except in the cases listed on its website.

The Nasrid Palaces time slot
The monument opens 8:30 to 18:00 in winter and 8:30 to 20:00 in summer. Tickets that include the Nasrid Palaces carry a fixed entry time: capacity is 300 people every half hour, and latecomers lose the right to enter. Plan the rest of your visit (Alcazaba, Generalife and gardens) around that time, and allow for the long walk from the main entrance to the Palaces. Each restricted area (Nasrid Palaces, Generalife Palace and Alcazaba) can only be visited once.
Since 23 September 2026 the Alcazaba has been open on an adapted route for safety and conservation reasons. It may change, so check the notices on the official site before you go.
Rules worth knowing
- You must show your original ID card or passport. Tickets are issued in the visitor’s name.
- Bring your ticket with its QR code, printed or on your phone.
- Backpacks larger than 40 × 40 cm are not allowed. Pushchairs must be left in the cloakroom before entering the Palaces, the Generalife and the Alcazaba.
- Selfie sticks and flash are banned in the Nasrid Palaces and indoor areas. Tripods are not allowed either.
If tickets are sold out
Check the official site several times, as places are sometimes released. Other options are the night visits, which usually have more availability, the Dobla de Oro ticket or a guided tour with an authorised operator. Outside the Alhambra, the best views of the complex are from the Albaicín, at the Mirador de San Nicolás and along the Paseo de los Tristes.
How to get up to the Alhambra
- On foot: via the Cuesta de Gomérez (from Plaza Nueva), the Cuesta del Realejo or the Cuesta del Rey Chico (from Paseo de los Tristes).
- By bus: lines C30 (Alhambra–Centre), C32 (Alhambra–Albaicín) and C35 (Cementerio–Barranco del Abogado–Centre), according to the Trust.
- By car: the centre is closed to private vehicles. Take the southern ring road following “Alhambra (Ronda Sur)”, go through the Serrallo tunnel and drive up Avenida de Santa María de la Alhambra and Camino Viejo del Cementerio. The public car park is supervised, open 24 hours and has 360 spaces: cars to P-1, coaches and motorhomes to P-4.
Before your visit, read our guides to the history of the Alhambra and the Generalife so you know what to look for in each area.
